Christmas Gift Ideas

For Country Guitarists

Fender Telecaster

The Fender Telecaster is "the" electric guitar of Country music. It was first brought to popularity by Buck Owens and his "Bakersfield Sound." Since the times of buck such country stars as Alan Jackson, George Strait, and even newcomers like Easton Corbin have all opted for an electric Fender Telecaster. If you want to use your electric guitar skills for Country Music, I would highly recommend ordering one. Simply click the icon to right.

Country Guitar Licks (with CD)

This book is simply wonderful. I still use it sometimes. It's entitled Country Guitar Licks by Alan Warner. Let me tell you something. You'll get excited when you first get this book. It will teach you what you need to know as far as soloing. Different country styles from rockabilly to bluegrass are included. I was pumped the first time I realized I could make my guitar sound like a banjo. Included is a CD, with slowed down versions of all the exercises and songs. You won't want to miss out on this one, trust me. Order a copy. Click the icon to the right, or here, to be directed to it.

This is definitely a "girl song" so I must make it clear, I only enjoy the melody and intro riff, not the message. haha. It's kind of selfish and trivial anyway isn't it? Oh well, I hope ya'll enjoy the pickin'!

Wrap you up in a melody so you'll be stuck in my head all day
Cause you're already there anyway, yes you are

(Chorus)

Bridge:
A Em

               A
And when they see you on the street they'll say

Hey, ain't you the girl in that song?

Song of the Week: Brad Paisley's "This is Country Music"

Hits Alive [+Digital Booklet]Brad Paisley's new single This is Country Music has to be one of the best songs ever. It's like "every country song" mixed into one. Paisley highlights the authenticity, faith, bravery, and patriotism associated with the music of middle-America. It's no wonder he one "entertainer of the year" at the CMA's this same evening. This is a must listen to!

How to Be a Country Star: Updated

If the Statler Brothers were around today their classic song How to Be a Country Star might sing a little differently.

Original Statler Brothers Version

Updated for Today Version

There's questions I’m always hearing every where I go
Like can city slickers make it on the country shows

Well, it takes more than just a twangy voice to hide who you really are
There's a few more things you ought to learn to be a country star

You got to learn to dance like Simpson or dress like the band Perry
Be pretty like Gloriana, or play rock like Jason Aldean
Put a rasp in your voice like Kracker, go to high school like Taylor
Cross over like Kid Rock did and you'll be a country star

Gel your hair like Rascal Flatts does or troy or Kelly or Keith
Have a beard like James Otto or a father like Miley
Be old just like the Eagles and Jewel you just can’t ignore
Make no sense like Sugarland, and you’ll be a Country star.

As for think Mr. Bojangles, and it's not too hard to figure out.
